“ LUBOWA HILL FOR THE WORLD”
SITE DESCRIPTION:
Lubowa Hill lies in the county
of
Lubowa Hill is a cultural, scenic, traditional site in central Uganda, whcih lies in an area of gently undulating land interrupted by flat-topped hills that are remnants of the ancient, present, future African power for the world wide.
The Lubowa scenery lies close to the shores
of L. Nalubale ( Lake
The traditional cultural site is considered to be of sub-climax stage, highly disturbed and heavily influenced by man. The hill has a number of populated buildings within it. An Uganda Department Land Surveys map sheet covers the area. .
Apart from that, the constraints to successes and opportunities of socio-cultural practices of conserving the natural resources are identified; suggestions regarding ways of reviving and or strengthening socio-cultural institutions and practices with potentialities to conserve natural resources are made.
The views of traditional and community cultural mentors and their suggestions on the current development of natural resource conservation, cultural beliefs, and taboos related to natural resource conservation and to cultural practices of conserving natural resources for sustainable development, are presented.
Last, but not least, the cultural site, such as hills, rivers, wells, rocks and forests with spectacular and marvellous scenes and phenomena are revealed and should not be destroyed by new investments. When this happens it ignores the deep spiritual relationship and respect that the indigenous people have with Mother Earth.
The above reasons explain why it is important to conserve Lubowa Hill, as a vital spiritual and economic resource in the area, which has the power for the World. For this matter, it is important to instigate the Michealcotts people who bought that land .
The cultural heritage of Lubowa Hill has its natural Land Title, a two-headed snake black in colour to the site. Therefore it is important to take existing informal institutions into consideration when designing new nature management programs in order to avoid significant discrepancy. "We want a future enriched by the inheritance of our past."
Access to most sacred forests is restricted by taboos, codes and customs to particular activities and members of the community. For example, in China, gathering, hunting, wood chopping and cultivation are strictly prohibited in the holy hills. The Dai people believe that these activities would make the spirits angry and bring misfortune and disaster to the community.
