The Black revival is a subtle process, largely invisible to the eye accustomed to viewing black downpression as a permanent state, and is mostly felt by a small but growing group of people scattered in a variety of places. Small one person bands, activists and ordinary folk, who feel it in their soul, and know that the time has arrived - The time long envisioned by Marcus, Paul (Robeson), Kwame, Amilcar, Malcolm, Bob Marley, Mandela and freedom loving Africans everywhere. The time of African revival.
Sometimes it can be seen
in the changing perception
of the umbilical connection
between mother and diaspora,
a growing acceptance of Oneness
and the slow stirring to wakefulness
of the Sleeping Giant - Global Africa,
African Mother and Diaspora.
There is a growing awareness in Nigeria
of responsibility to Diaspora
A Pan African revival in Ghana
the noises in Africa
are the thundering collapse
of colonial structure
Like scales falling off the eyes
of the sleeping giant.
There is motion in the horn of Africa
And movement in Liberia
Even in Somalia
Sometimes it can be seen in Haarlem
Where Africa alive and well in street markets,
shed multi colored hues
to light the path of Harlem' s own revival.
Some say it is in the wind in D.C.
and in the air in Boston
and on the streets of Los Angeles,
Other times it can be seen
in some unusual places
like Black Women gathering in Costa Rica
and the rise of Africans in Latin America
and in CDR's in Havana
or the unending work of Mama Achola
Or in the words of Mutabaruka,
Some hear its rumblings in Bahia
and see it carried on the wings of the samba.
Yet others feel it spiritually,
while some hear it culturally
coming from places like Dangriga.
People in the know
say it is happening musically,
with people like Ibo and Willie
Others say Diaspora is responding politically
With soldiers like Elombe and Samori
Randall and Rashidi
Global Africa is awakening in its entirety.
Others have seen it in Kenya
happening scientifically at ICIPE
while some are quick to note
a prevalence of economic summitry
between Mother and Diaspora.
Awakening is happening diplomatically
As OAU too demands reparations for slavery.
Students will tell you its happening academically
with increasing interest in our history,
energized by Van Sertima's discovery
and psychologically as we seek to erase
slavery's legacy
a prerequisite for awakening organisationally.
It can be seen in diaspora to diaspora connections
as each reclaim their own
make their reconnections
recognising interconnectivity
and then relink with Mother Africa
for process of unity.
Diaspora to diaspora to Mother
in Neco-Souths methodology.
Most crucially,
it is happening with our youth
Even though some say
it is occurring fashionably,
this is a big step on the road
to identity and Global African creativity.
Its Essence is in awarding excellence
and praising sensitivity.
Beneath the smoke and seeming confusion
it is there in South Africa
the awakening of Mama Africa
the place where Gwangwa says,
the tears that mothers shed
made the waterfalls that bled
and whose struggle now approaches a watershed
with apartheid mortally wounded in South Africa,
and in Namibia dead.
For centuries oppression was force-fed,
while seeds of our resistance were breast-fed
and through Mother Africa' tears
African Mothers' tears- were irrigated
turning them into rivers of resistance
which one day soon
will wash oppression away.
And there is a place
where all our rivers meet
and it is in the Oceans
of our common consciousness
connecting us to the universe
and providing sustenance for Global Africa.
The 500 year long dark night
is slowly fading
and oases of light are beginning to appear
in our deserts of despair
Global Africa is awakening
in its entirety.
It is 2000 o'clock
Do you know where your children are?
And Global Africa answers
I know where my children are
Once fallen and dismembered
they thought we would never awake
But now we are rising
all over the world.
Global Africa Is Rising In Its Entirety.
