BANDA ACEH, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- UNICEF and WHO have given measles
vaccination to 91,000 infants and children in 21 cities and
districts of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) in the post-tsunami
period, the Antara News Agency reported.
"We also cooperate with local health offices to carry out the
vaccination," Rebecca Dodd, a WHO staff, told reporters here on
Friday.
She said that the two UN bodies target to vaccinate 1.3 million
children in the districts and cities.
WHO, in collaboration with the Indonesian Health Ministry and local
health offices, had implemented an early monitoring system and taken
measures to cope with epidemics such as malaria, diarrhea, dengue
and measles, she added.
Dodd, however, said they did not find any serious disease in the
post-tsunami period in the province.
