BLACKHERBALS.COM

Mission Statement

Our aim at Blackherbals is to propagate and promote the awareness in Afrikan people at home and abroad of their health, biodiversity, historical and cultural richness. We gather research information on these issues, disseminate these freely to our people in Uganda, the rest of the Continent and all of the Diaspora where Afrikans are located.  This, we think will edify and empower our people to better care for themselves and their children, which are our only future for tomorrow. One of the main ingredients for poverty, sickness, exploitation and domination is ignorance of one's self, and the environment in which we live. Knowledge is power and the forces that control our lives don't want to lose control, so they won't stop at anything to keep certain knowledge from the people. Therefore we are expecting a fight and opposition to our mission. We, however, will endeavor to carry forward this work in grace and perfect ways.

Where there is no God, there is no Culture

Where there is no culture, there is no indigenous knowledge.

Where there is no indigenous knowledge, there is no history.

Where there is no history, there is no science or technology.

The existing nature is made by our past. Let us protect and conserve our indigenous knowledge.

We specialize in natural and holistic products that reflect Afrikan culture and ancient herbal traditions seemingly lost to recent generations of the Diaspora. For example, the tradition of highly salting our food is required for existence in arid climates. For some of us living in more temperate climates and under more stressful conditions, this has resulted in high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes, particularly to those of us in the Afrikan-American community. One reason for the high prevalence of diabetes within the Black community can be directly attributed to our excessive use of refined sugars, improper diet and lack of exercise. For this reason, we will present articles on herbal solutions to present-day ailments, many of which are occurring because we have adopted cultural ways that are not natural to our biological makeup.

We  need to return to our roots-our natural roots.

We seek to enlighten people who are interested in living a healthy and holistic life. We have reasons to believe that melanated people all over the world have distinct body characteristics and physiology that more than physically separates us from those having less melanin. This distinctive body physiology requires special food, herbs and nutrition to support the melanated molecules in our bodies. Therefore, we must cater to this need exclusively. Many of the health problems of Black people in the Diaspora result from nutritional deficiencies in our diet, chemical and environmental  pollution, vitamin-deficient food, etc. We require an Afrikan Diet of traditional organic foods such as whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruits and ground provisions such as cassava, yams, millet and sorghum. Our food must contain no artificial preservatives, no artificial additives, no genetically-modified anything, no man-made chemicals and pesticide-free.

We do not discourage the use of Western medicine, but one cannot ignore the fact that western pharmaceutical medicine is chemically-dependent with multiple side effects, which poorly addresses the symptoms of disease, not its cause. There is a natural synergy between plants and mankind that cannot be captured or transmitted in a laboratory. There are natural herbs available today to cleanse, purify, stimulate, normalize and regulate our bodily systems, naturally. These are the products we present to our visitors and customers, so they can heal themselves, the natural way.

Our goal objectives are: 1) to build and maintain a sustainable bridge that links Mother Afrika with her children in the Diaspora and the rest of the planet Earth. 2) To propagate the concept of natural and holistic living and lifestyle with the consciousness of spirit, mind and body, which is the original Afrikan way. We gather and disseminate information on all subjects of health that affects our people at home and abroad. We will pass information and advice to and from, wherever we are to wherever it needs to go. We need to inform the present generation of the ancient ways and practices of our ancestors, on whose shoulders we stand today, so they can create a strong shoulder for the next generation to stand on tomorrow. This bridge must accommodate the cultural exchange of goods and services, ancient cultural practices and herbal customs, to connect the villages of Afrika with the villages in the Diaspora and the rest of the world, so we can genuinely get back to our roots, the natural way.

When a tree has no roots, it cannot stand upright. Let us acknowledge, nurture and maintain our roots, so that our trees will bear good fruit.

We promise to carry out our mission in grace and perfect ways.

Peace and Blessings in the Name of The Creator and our Ancestors.
